Spiked Punch

Greg Iles created an engrossing cast of characters with his Natchez Burning series, and a detailed place with streets, views and homes which felt like a familiar neighborhood. He builds upon all of those with The Devil's Punchbowl. If you need an easy vacation from reality, this makes a safe bet. If you want a novel that takes you away while also illuminating life, this isn't a good gamble.
